Parallel cable trouble

I have some older Stamp boards that use the 3 pin to parallel cable for
programming.· One of these is the old Milford Instruments Stamp Bug.
I have been unable to get any parallel to USB cable to work with it as
my Vista computer has nothing but USB ports.· I have tried several
cables and lots of drivers, but don't know if the problem is cable
incompatibilty or that wonderful (grrrrr) Vista OS.· Does anybody
have another way (besides buying an old computer that has real live
ports on it, I have thought about it)?

and the copy says it works with their USB-serial adapter. So you'll need·both adapters if you only have USB ports.

·"If you build it, they will come."
It is in the mail.· I also found some info on how to roll your own in my Stamp manual
but the cost of the adapter is only $4.99, can't beat that!· I do have the USB to
9-pin which I use for BoeBot and SumoBots.
