Very interested, I need a quick pointer

I basically come seeking a recommendation.

I am very interested in the Propeller and currently have an SX development kit. I am kind of
used to the LIF socket design and on the fly development.

I would like to have a 40 pin dip development kit of the Propeller.

Only thing is I don't want a fixed chip on a board, I would rather have something
like I am familiar with. Something I can buy more chips for as I use them.

I navigated the getting started the closet thing I seen was the 40-pin DIP education kit.

Would this be fit the profile I am looking for?

    Hi Thetniv,

The Education kit is a great place to start, with an excellent manual and labs.

The Professional Development Board is also a joy.

    Welcome to the Prop!

    Thetniv,

On the Propeller you don't actual load your code into the propeller chip. It gets loaded into the EEPROM. So changing propeller chips will NOT run different code. You would have to change the EEPROM chip to do that.

Use BASIC on the Propeller with the speed of assembly language.

My SpinStudio system has a socketed DIP propeller and a socketed EEPROM. Plus add-on peripheral modules to allow you to have a flexible system that can evolve with your abilities and needs.

I just checked out both uController and Spinvent for the first time. Wow, what fantastic systems! The PropLab is too cool for words, and the SpinStudio modular approach is perfect for a particular project that just got moved to the front of the line. Very nice!

Also, the PropLab from spinvent is compatible with the Propeller Education Lab Fundamentals Text (found here), you just have to change the pin numbers in the text example code to match the prop lab, but this is a very trivial task.

Thank you all so very much for taking the time to help!

I just have to decide which one I want. The external EEPROM is interesting also good to know.
So I will need at least one for every Propeller I use in a project.

Its a very impressive piece of silicon.
