Alcohol and a tooth brush

I read·a recommendation here somewhere to use isopropyl alcohol and a toothbrush to clean a PCB dirty with flux residue.· Is that still advisable on a PCB with parts (SD card adapter, headphone jack, etc.)·which could trap the moisture of the alcohol?· How long to let dry before powering up?· Does alcohol even conduct electriciy?

Alcohol evaperaes quickly and does not conduct. It used to clean medical electronics all the time.

I read that rubbing alcohol will leave a residue and isn't good for cleaning disk drive heads.· Isopropyl is better like you said.

Rubbing Alcohol is based on Ethanol (Ethyl Alcohol).· It's less the type of alcohol and more the fact that it's "denatured" and has other "impurities".· It is also relatively low in concentration of alcohol to water.

i should have been more clear I never thought someone would use anything other then isopropal alcohol. It is cheaper then rubing alcohol and is what is sold in electronic stores.

But Ethanol tastes better, especially in the 40-45% range.
