Hi All,

I'm looking to replace some TO-220 package voltage regulators, like the LM2940 or· LM7805 and so on. I live off the grid now and every watt counts.·I'd like to stick with a drop in replacement so that I can easily retrofit some of my exsisting projects. I need outputs of 3.3V and 5V. I'd also like an adjustable like a LM317. Input will be 20 to 12V, as I am running most of these project from my battery bank.

So, any recommendations? There are so many out there, and folks here usually have real experience.

Thanks!

Jonathan

Those look real nice, but the price... Ouch. I was hoping for something in the US$5 range. I'll do $15 for some projects, but it would be expensive to replace all of my linear regs.

Just buy a Nat Semi Simple Switcher chip, make a PCB, and build your own. It shouldn't cost more than $5.
