Another project: gaming & animation for the masses.

There has been some discussion regarding the creation of a Game Creation kit for the Propeller in the Hydra forum.
Over the last few days, we've been rather quiet (At least in that forum) which has generated some pm's asking me what happened.
First of all, let me assure you that nothing negative is going on. No rift or issue between Parallax and myself.
(It's amazing what people come up with when you don't say anything, hence this message.)
It's all positive.. :)
Here's what we are doing...
A couple of us have been pounding out some additional features as well as some "getting started" documentation for one of potatohead's video drivers. We're calling this adaption the ORE driver. We're working toward a kit which will allow someone with very little knowledge (beginner level) to jump into both animation and game programming. No fiddling with NTSC signals, or learning how video works. A jump start directly into the stuff that will get someone hooked.
The ORE driver features:
20x24 (8x8) characters (160x192)
126 "safe" colors (4 colors per 8x8 character)
A windows based character editor (adapted from GB) & spin converter
A beginners Quick Start Guide (about 50% complete at this writing)
An easy sound engine (planned)
"On Prop" programming (planned)
At the same time this project was just starting to get some traction, I was asked if I could offer some assistance in getting Savage Circuits forum off the ground. I opted to move the ORE project to the Savage Circuits forum providing us a focused location for this as well as hopefully get some traffic moving for him.
All that being said, if you've ever thought about getting into the graphics side of the Propeller and got overwhelmed by all the technical details of video display, then this kit is for you. If you are a 'wizard' who can lend a hand, we'll be happy to have the help. (Big thanks to potatohead for all he's doing!!)
In either event.. You'll find us treading both forums. :) Drop in and see what's up. Links in the SIG.

Yes. The application is GBTD, and the .gbr format is getting "translated" into a format usable by the display driver (see : "FontGenerator and GraphicsEditor Thread" on Savage Circuits).

An initial chapter and kit has been placed online.
As promised it is designed for those just getting started with the Propeller who are interested in graphics and animation.

I'll be following this up with more on animation, then into basic game controls.
It appears we'll be adding features along the way.

It's a pre-release, so we may contain a sharp edge or two..
Chapter 2 and the source code.
This material is designed for someone with minimal knowledge of spin.
