steper motor vs servo

I have need of a light weight pan mechanism capable of 360 deg rotation and at least 6deg increments though smaller would be nice.
It needs to be stable once in position(no vibration) so I would prefer not to have a lose gear box.

Continuous rotation is not desirable do to battery cables.

What would be best? Servo or steper and any suggestions for light parts?

What is the weight of the payload? How light do you need it to be? How big can it be? Do you need accuracy or will it be guided? I'd use a stepper with a gear drive if the size/weight parameters allow it.

I need to carry up a mountain so size must be small. Accuracy is not to important 6 deg +- 2 deg is fine.

Pay load wait is not much 200g or so
