USB-B vs Mini B

I'm designing a product and need USB.

Every "big" device like a scanner and a printer uses USB-B.

While every little device like a cell phone, the propeller, etc uses mini-B.

Is there a preference of one over the other?

Is USB-B more durable over the mini version?

I read somewhere that mini-B actually can hold up to more inserts/reinserts than USB-B.

I've only ever used mini-B. It saves acres of board space, and I've never had any reservations about its robustness.
