XBee USB Adapter Board - Mac OSX

For the life of me I can't get the XBee USB Adapter to send or receive serial data with my macbook Pro (Intel). I've got the FTDI Drivers installed (2.2.14) and I triple checked my soldering. The yellow LED just stays solid, although I got the red LED to flash but can't seem to get back to that state again.

I've tried using terminal with the screen command and I get/receive nothing. I see the device in my /dev folder. I seem to be able to connect but don't get anything.

I know my xbee pro antennas are working as I can send/receive serial information using my arduino and xbee shields no problem.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

BST has a serial terminal window and there's a Mac version. Try that (www.parallax.com/tabid/832/Default.aspx).

I've made my own xBee USB adapter using an FTDI USB serial to 3.3V logic level adapter and it works fine on my MacBook.

There's another serial terminal program for the Mac called ZTerm which I've also used, but now I just use BST.

Have you downloaded and run the other software linked to on the product page? How do you update the firmware on your chips in macos?

Mike: Thanks for the tip on the BST serial terminal. I've downloaded that and will give it a shot tomorrow. The situation just seems a bit fishy to me considering I can talk to both xbee radios via a serial connection using the terminal screen command as well as through the Arduino serial monitor. Seems that using the xbee usb adapter would actually simplify the situation, but it seems like something is not working as it should.

Franklin : I have downloaded all of the other software linked to the product page. Unfortunately, I don't think you can currently update the firmware using a mac. The only way I can find to update the firmware is through X-CTU. I plan on booting up my old Windows XP laptop and giving that a try next.

I'll definitely post back with my findings.

    Thank you both.
