    hmmm, wouldn't an electromagnetic field play havoc with some chips during soldering, and the iron particles inside the solder hold some of the magnetic energy. wouldn't use it on a compass module. Cool idea, but im just not sure how practical it would be on sensitive electronics.

    It could if you could induct enough voltage/ current in to a chip it could pop it .

    Voltage gradient is the key .
