iRobot stock has been rising steadily despite some stiff new competition:

Roomba has been trumped: http://www.neatorobotics.com/

And Helen Greiner (formerly of iRobot)·has fresh startup: http://www.cyphyworks.com formerly http://www.thedroidworks.com/

This company was initially called "The Droid Works", but soon changed to Cy-Phy Works. My guess is to save money.·George Lucas trademarked the word "Droid" and gets paid anytime somebody uses it. Like the Droid phone. Yep, they pay George.

I have no idea if the quality of that machine is good, but I thought the marketing video was fairly impressive.

I am working on a robot to replace me at home - that's difficult. I already created one that replaces me at work - it's just a large rock that sits on my chair and grumbles whenever a student asks a question.

Thanks for the info - cool stuff.

George Lucas is a smart guy. I would have done the same if I were in his place. If he invented the word "droid" and it's that popular, then why not make some money with it?

George Lucas did not "invent" the word droid. The word had been used as a short form of android in science fiction stories for many years prior to the release of star wars. The trademark, copyright, and patent situation these days does however speak volumes about the IQ of the idiots working at the patent and trademark office and the judges sitting in our courts.
