One dead Pin on stamp

Has anyone had a situation where only one IO pin stopped working. I was using a pin for the U/D signal for a digital potentiometer. Today it just stopped working. I changed to another pin and everything is working again. I checked all the wiring from the bad pin and it all checked out, no shorts etc. Now, of course I am wondering if this pin will die too.

    It happens but not often. It's usually user error.

    If you break it JUST right, you can blow the output drive capability of a pin and still use it as an input.
