Hi guys, I bought one of the Parallax USB prop sticks with my educational kit a while back,,(awesome teaching package) anyway I have not used it in months because I normally use the million other prop proto boards I have
but when I powered it up everything works fine but 4 pins are dead ,, Pin 6 P5, Pin 14 P9 and Pin 35or 36 no matter what I do they are dead they will not read or output I know this is probably stupid but is there anyway Parallax can repair these units??
Please don't think I am expecting any type of warranty or free service I am not ,I bought it almost a year ago but its a shame to toss it since most of the unit works just fine I did find that I can only supply around 5-6 volts because the reg gets really hot I left it on over night
running a blink led program to see if it would die but she is still running just fine on the good pins despite being wounded ,, Thank you

Also I was reading the Parallax 2010 catalog trying to find a product didn't there used to be a mOLED display that had a built in prop chip I see the plain mOLED but not the one with the built in prop is it no longer offered?

    mikediv,

Talk to tech support - I am sure they will find a way to help.

they probably aren't dead... try pushing the crystal down. then run without the pll... if that fails you can sign up for a free dinner...if you can figure out how you did it, you could win a prize...

event not officially sponsored or scheduled and there isn't a place to sign up yet, but keep watching. It will happen:)

LOL thanks ,, Whit I actually pulled the crystal its in a socket and replaced from other pro stick I have tried everything ,, its all SMT honestly there is not much I can do ,, but no bent pins no visible things I can see. I have heard others post that they wounded the 40 pin dip prop chip and had it still work like mine ,, funny thing is I never did anything bad. I think. I just used them for my educational kit labs so blinking LEDs is about it the other one works like a champ that one sat for a few months as well ,, who knows maybe static ?

    mikediv,

I still think it would be worth giving tech support at Parallax a call.
