Xbee headache -cured-

So I've got a couple Xbees and a couple Parallax breakout boards for them.
One of the breakout boards is USB.
Running ACTU I can do what looks like a successful "Name unknown" test when
the API box is checkmarked, but I can't seem to move forward from here.
Switching to the Modem Configuration and using "read" or "restore" isn't
bringing me any love. A lot of "Failed to enter command mode."
Where to go from here? I'm reading Chapter 5 of the new propeller book,
but something is escaping me. Experts here?
Thanks!

I decided to put the USB interface away and try the Propeller based interface instead..
Success! I'm starting to think that there is something weird with the USB breakout..
Headway being made..

I built the second breakout adapter and have two Xbees happily communicating.
I figure it must be something strange with the USB adapter.
Chapter 5 of the Propeller book is right on track!
The Xbee units are a breeze to play with..
