Rock Bottom Propeller Kit -- Now Available

A while back I created a series of minimalist processor kits for some PICAXE and two different Arduino Processors. I call them 'Rock Bottom' Kits .... that is what they are ... the absolute rock bottom least components you need to get your microP up and accepting programs. I figured it was time to do that for the Propeller, The basic RBPK contains
- Parallax Propeller chip P8X32-D40A
- Parallax sticker for the DIP chip with pin assignments
- Microchip 24LC512
- 3M dual wipe DIP sockets for both
- 5 MHZ crystal
- 10K pull up resistor for SDA on EEPROM
- reset switch
- 2 0.1uF bypass caps
- 16 each 1/8 watt carbon film series protection resistors in 1 Kohm and 220 ohm values
- a special bonus, red LED with built in series resistor for easy quick and dirty debugging
I offer an inexpensive RS232 level programming adapter, breadboard, 5v/3.3v power supply etc as an additional options. The basic RBPK is $15 and it can be seen here
www.wulfden.org/TheShoppe/prop/rbpk.shtml
The kit can be breadboarded (save those sockets) or mounted to a larger Radio Shack proto board.

My hat is off to you! Excellent!
You should have a kit price which includes that RS232 programmer for $19.00 (If I read your website correctly)
Edit: A thought.. How about adding a 3.3v regulator and a nine volt battery clip?
It may not be a "recommended" approach, but I'll bet it would work.

Thanks, both of you for the kind words. But the part I just quoted got me to read the webpage over again a (after a proper night's sleep!) and I see how things could have been more clear. Anyway, I cleaned it up and, I hope, made it more clear.
My lack of clarity not withstanding, the web site sold 8 kits that first night and yesterday I had a table at the Vermont State ham radio convention at the Hampton Inn near Burlington and sold another 14 RBPKs, 12 of them to brand new Propeller-heads. Fortunately they had expanded free WiFi into the area we were in (last year they wanted to charge us a fortune for WiFi!) so I was able to show off the Forum. I handed out over 30 Parallax catalogs (the last of my 2009 stash and about 18 2010's) !
Once again the RBPK webpage is ]www.wulfden.org/TheShoppe/prop/rbpk.shtml]

Hate to say this... but the top link is dead. The bottom works just fine.
You know those books..."____ for Idiots"? I'm one of those idiots. I couldn't find a picture... like you posted here... showing the prop-plug kit. I know it is there... but when I followed the links, it wasn't where I looked.
Great concept... nice kits.

That's one of the things that got me instantly hooked on the Prop, it runs with almost nothing. Which is pretty much what I had at that moment.
The LED and its resistor are essential of course:)
Rock Bottoms Kits are a great idea I must say. The absolute minimalist system is the first thing I look for in every new device I come across.

For me, the past is not over yet.
You just need to remove the right bracket ("]") from the end.

I actually considered the crystal and EEPROM aspect ... buuuuutttttt ... they involve subtleties that might get confusing to a rank beginner ... so I left them in ... sort of a case where "a little more" winds up being "less!" Anyhow, that's my story, and I am stickin to it!

Thank you from Parallax for joining the Propeller crowd and making a kit to support this processor. Now that you're kitting RBPKs, we won't bother! You've been around for a while with our products, especially with the SX product.
Let us know if there's anything we can do to help you along with the RBPK.
Sincerely,
Ken Gracey
Thanks, I appreciate it. Its little I can do to pay back all the Parallax community has done for me through the years and make a little money to fund my 'next great idea' should there be one left in the nether reaches of my skull!
