Sci Fi Display - Multiplexing 7 Segment Displays

I have 39, 7 Segment Displays (Common Anode) that I want to control with one Basic stamp 2P 40 pin Module.
I have heard about a technique called "Multi-Plexing" and decided that this is the best approach.
How do I do this?

They say if you Play a Microsoft CD backwards you can hear satanic messages, that's nothing because if you play it forward it installs Windows!
