Cheap LCD. Anyone use this desplay?

All Electronics has these http://forums.parallaxinc.com/www.allelectronics.com/index.php?&page=item&id=LCD-103&index=1 LCDs for cheap. has anyone used one? does anyone know if there is an object in the OBEX that will work for this? For the price, they seem to be pretty nice. but without a driver it may be useless to me. I am not nearly to the point with the propeller to tackle a task like that.

I have used a similar dual-scan but 640x480 display with the prop... you can read a bit about that project here: propeller.wikispaces.org/MonoLCD640
In that case the prop has enough memory to produce a 640x400 1bpp graphics display. The only thing that bothers me a bit is the glossyness of the display (as you see in the photo I posted).

The data/clocking part is easy.

the extra cuircuit needed to create the -16v and the 100v ac at 500hz, could double the cost.

The CCFL can be powered from one of those cheap converters used in modding pcs. The 28 V needed as bias OTOH is easily achieved with a MC 34063 or similar. A propeller pin outputting 100 kHz and a MOSFET could also be used if a pin is free. IMHO a propeller is not that cost effective for such a display. too much wasted memory unless you use it as text.
