Hello all!

In this time of economic turmoil, who doesn't love free things? And since "knowledge is power," we thought we would let you know of a couple of courses available to teachers FOR FREE!

ARRL Institute on Wireless Technology
This is a great a week long, in-residence learning opportunity designed for motivated teachers and other school staff who want to learn more about wireless technology and bring that knowledge to their students. A variety of topics are covered during the 4 days of the TI including basic wireless technology literacy, electronics, and the science of radio; bringing space into the classroom; ham radio operation; introduction to micro controllers; and basic robotics.

Thanks to a generous grant, transportation, hotel, a modest per-diem to cover meals, instructional resources for the electronics, microcontroller, and robotics segments of the course (hardware!), and a resource library of relevant ARRL publications are all included for free to the each attendee. This includes your very own What's a Microcontroller kit, Boe-Bot, and USB oscilloscope! Spaces are filling fast, so be sure to SIGN-UP today!

MATE's Summer Institutes for Faculty Development
This is another great week long, in-residence course, providing educators with skills to work with students to design and build an ROV to compete in MATE’s International and Regional ROV competitions. The Marine Advanced Technology Education (MATE) Center’s annual Summer Institute for Faculty Development provides educators from high schools, community colleges, and universities from across the country with the skills and experiences they need to incorporate marine science and technology topics into their classrooms. In addition to lecture and hands-on time, the Institute includes field trips to the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (MBARI) and the Monterey Bay Aquarium.

There is also NO COST to attend this course and hotel accommodations, lunches, and several dinners are provided by the MATE Center. Transportation does need to be funded by the attendees. Spaces are also filling fast for this one, so be sure to SIGN-UP today!

Free BASIC Stamp Educator's Courses
Are you an educator? Have you heard about Parallax products but never found the time to get started, or do you currently use our products in class, but need new project or lesson ideas? The BASIC Stamp microcontroller module is a perfect onboard computer for robots and automating student projects. It’s also a great resource for STEM curriculum!

Our ever-popular 2-Day BASIC Stamp Educator's Course is now available for FREE here at Parallax. Participants will work with both the What's a Microcontroller and Robotics with the Boe-Bot kits for a hands on introduction to microcontrollers and robotics. For more information and to sign-up, just click here.

Free Propeller Educator's Courses
Are you a teacher who is already planning to attend the UPEW? Why not come a day early for a FREE course covering the basics of programming with the Propeller. This is another FREE course which utilizes the Propeller Education Kit to introduce electronics and programming with the multicore propeller microcontroller. Attendees will work step-by-step through selections from the accompanying Propeller Education Kit Labs: Fundamentals text, which introduces aspects of programming the Propeller chip to help support success in the classroom. This course is designed for pre-engineering and engineering professors with previous microcontroller experience. For more information and to sign-up, just click here.

Hooray for learning!

She is pretty adorable. Her boyfriend thinks so too.
Parallax is lucky to have such an enthusiastic educator.
