Wireless Web with Wifly and PSB

Finally figured out how to download web pages with a Wifly GSX!

The user manual isn't very good, but their email support is excellent...

Anyway, here's an app that downloads weather from:
http://mobile.weather.gov

parses it and then shows it on the PSB screen...

Thanks Tony.

I'm now thinking about turning it into a little information appliance, to mount on a wall or refrigerator or somewhere in the kitchen or bathroom or livingroom...

Here's my short list of apps to do:

Weather (done.)

Time (can get time from a web time server and use the Prop as RTC or just update·a DS1307)

Mail (just show a list of latest messages)

Prop Forum (show the latest posts!)

Calculator/Unit Converter (always nice to have around)

Any more ideas?

Great work Ray! Chumby here we come...

Perhaps a really neat extension would be to display the loop of 6 GIF images from the weather radar... so you can see the dark clouds bearing down.

Other applications I'm looking at (using GSM modem)
- old books from project guttenberg (ftp.ibiblio.org) are in plain text
- news tickers (including a brittany/lindsay lohen/tiger woods opt out filter!) again plain text
- web page using a remote rendering engine (prop sends a URL to server, server sends a bitmap back to the Prop)

I like the prop forum viewer idea...

Maybe, if we ask nicely, the Parallax web people will make·a "mobile" web page for us with just text and maybe uncompressed images...

I know that I have asked you before, but: what exactly do I need to order to have a touch screen display with prop?
No choices - what part number of display, PC board kit and extras to complete one unit?

For touchscreen Prop, I would recommend either a PSB with "like new" display for
$89(PSB)+30(LCD)+5(shipping)=$124
Or, use your own Prop (such as a protoboard or Prop Platform) and wire it up to a Breakout board to a "used" screen for
$30(breakout)+18(LCD)+5(shipping)=$53
