Just a dual axis Accelerometer, or Accelerometer and gyro?

I would like to have my robot know when it is moving, and know what direction it is facing. This will allow me to know if it is stalled and not moving, as well as being able to say turn 90 degrees.
The compass is not very accurate indoors it seems, and seems to drift, and is hard to keep a straight line. I was thinking the gyro would replace the compass.
But the Memsic 2125 Dual-axis Accelerometer, would that work for both functions? Or is the gyro much more accurate, and I would want to use that instead regardless?
Thanks!
