UPENE: Considering changing location: a little. Need your input.

The UPENE team has been discussing the possibility of moving the UPENE expo
a little closer to Akron. (Over Norwalk)

This would be adjustment of around 80 or so miles closer to the airport. (CAK)

There are even very large conference rooms in the upstairs of CAK itself.
(I'm just not sure I'm ready to live at the airport.) :)

Benefits:

* Closer to the CAK airport. Might be able to keep some from having to rent a car.

Concerns:

* Would be bit farther from Cedar Point.

Bryan, Rebekah and I would appeciate some input from UPENE attendies as we consider this.

Thanks!
OBC

    Jeff,
I'm all for it. It will save me about an hour of driving.

Use BASIC on the Propeller with the speed of assembly language.

    Bean,
I know where your hour went.
This proposed move will change my drive time from 2 hours to about 3.
I am well aware that the distance from a major airport was a concern for many last year.

One extra hour for me may be a small price to pay.
The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, or the one.

You have my support if it's for the greater good of all.

    Jeff,

That would add an hour to the drive for us as well. How many actually fly in besides those from Parallax?

    OBC-

That would shave ~hour from my drive time as well, but it negate the ability to fold it into a family getaway to the lake near Sandusky (East Harbor State Park). It's a great state park that has been quiet both of the last 2 years and very reasonably priced ($20/night).

I like the current location (my $.02), but understand if it gets moved. Does Toledo have a decent airport?

An hour less drive for me also. Can we do as well on motel rates in Akron?

I vote for a nudge about 15,500 km South East.

That puts it 2 hours from my house! I'm for the change.

Pushes it an hour furthur from me too. I doubt I could get my teenagers to go that distance.
But if it can bring in a larger crowd, I will byte the bullet.
BTW.. Toledo Express is a decent airport. www.airnav.com/airport/KTOL

Haven't heard from many flyers at this point..

Think I'll let this topic gel over the weekend a bit. :)
