Hello,
I have recently upgraded to windows 7 ultimate 32bit.
Then I wanted to install the FTDI-driver
The file USBDriverTroubleshooting-V1.0.pdf tells me
You can download or
run our USB Driver Installer for Windows 2000/XP from our website by clicking Downloads/USB Drivers.
For other operating systems you may obtain drivers from the FTDI website at http://www.ftdichip.com.
So I visited the ftdi-website and downloaded the driver from this site
Then I tried to install the file "ftdiport.inf"
That gave me a systemcrash that was so hard that the startrepair-function of windows FAILED !
After a repair-try I got only bluescreens !!
I had to insert the installation-DVD - boot from the Installation-DVD and choose system-recovery to get my notebook
to start windows 7 again.
So after such a hard system-crash I'm very careful about installing ANY FTDI-driver now.
Which one is the suitable driver and who has successfully installed this driver ?
Any help

Have you tried using the parallax installer? It is a much nicer installer than FTDI's because they do the proper legwork to make sure the drivers are put in the right place, plus they put a "script" that runs when future ftdi devices get plugged in.
Maxstream's devices come with the old drivers, which incidentally worked on windows 7, although not perfectly.
I installed the latest PropTool on Windows 7 Professional 64 and it installed the correct drivers with zero peoblems.

We have not experienced the problem you reported, however, we have always used the "Setup Executable" form of it (also on that page, to the right of the 2.06.00 link).
However, we are currently distributing v2.04.16 of those drivers in our Propeller Tool software with our own wrapper.· It installs a custom version of the driver, plus FTDI's standard version; both of which work just fine on Win7 32-bit and 64-bit.·
I've attached a separate driver installer here, if you'd prefer not to install the latest Propeller Tool software.

This will be handy to have and I hope it solves Sefan's problem.
