UPEW & UPEC: Important note for both!

I didn't want to duplicate this, hence the new thread.
In expo registration, I've asked a key question about Propeller experience.
(So I know there are some very interesting projects going on.)
I want to encourage those of you who have been working on projects this year to
pack them carefully and bring them with you to the expo! An important element
of the expo is allowing folks who haven't experienced the Propeller a clear picture
of just exactly what can be done with this amazing chip. Your projects do exactly that!
Even if your project is still in "mid-process" by expo time, bring it for display, or even
to work on at the expo. Someone at UPENE last year remarked that she felt that
she could get involved with the Propeller because the projects were so interesting,
even the ones that didn't completely work gave her confidence that the hobby was
rewarding and obtainable.
* We need Speakers! *
If you are willing to give a presentation, please contact me by email (jeff at orrtech dot net)
or respond to this thread. Don't be bashful! You can be a part of inspiring
others with your project, new device, etc.
Speakers will have the following:
* 20 min of time to demonstrate or talk about your project.
* A VGA/NTSC projector to use for your demonstration.
* A microphone if required
* Speaking times are first come, first serve. There will be a whiteboard at the expo to pick your time.
If you are more like Steve Wozniak, and can't see yourself talking to a group, bring your
project and set it up. I promise there will be interested folks who will want to see
what you are doing!
Professional speaking ability is not required, just come share your excitement.

Not sure anyone remembers chip taking the Segway for a trial run last year in Rocklin.
I'm guessing a demo ride doing wheelies in the parking lot is out of the question.... lol

As with the motorcycle project, though, actual demonstration is pretty much out of the question, though there is a major launch area just up the road a bit in Princeton, home of Midwest Power, the largest launch in the midwest. If you live in the area, come on out in late October and watch me fly the project: I promise there'll be serious electronics in the air at Midwest Power this year.
Since I'll be driving down, I will be able to bring a rocket with me.
Also bring anything related which can be shown as display.
I sure both of you will have excellent presentations! I'm looking forward to them!

I should also have a project to show off, but I'll just put that on the table for display.

The machine is a bit heavy and awkward to carry but I suspect I could get some help carrying it once I get there.·

Yes I built it, but frankly the machine part of it is the easy stuff for me.· Designing and building a CNC control that completely resides and runs using ONLY microcontrollers, that is the tough part.· Have done one before using both a PC and·microcontrollers.· For this one though, I didn't want it to have any PC dependancies to operate.· So far so good but there is still a long way to go. Currently it can drill PCBs and do isolation milling.· It just isn't as good as I would like it to ultimately be :-)
@ Sylvie3659...
Thanks for the offer of help but I think it would be best if I was involved with the transport ;-)
@ CassLan...
Well if everything works out good and I don't get sent out of town that week on business, it should be there in Ottowa for all to see.·
@ anyone else that is interested...
I have a very extensive background with CNC programming, machining etc.· at both the hobbiest and professional levels.· I currently am a "machine builder" by trade. For my full time job I build very high precision CNC grinders that sell in price from 1/2 million to just over a million dollars each. I do all of the mechanical assembly.· I also get involved with "plumbing", electrical wiring, and work with the software guys to guide them in what the customer wants the machine to do (custom screens and cycles etc.).··As a hobbiest, I have 3 CNC routers and 1 CNC lathe in·my shop that I designed and built -·2 use my own controls, and the other two use·PC software that I purchased.· The lathe is something I converted to CNC from a manual machine.
So, if anyone wants to talk about CNC machines at UPEC, I will be glad to share what I know.
Chris
