My copy arrived a couple of days ago. This book is great! I am only part way through and already several nagging prop and spin questions have been answered for me. I am afraid my regular studies are suffering a bit due to this fascinating book.

Hi Everyone! I've only recently received my copy of the book and I've had a lot of fun reading the chapters by the other authors! smile.gif

I've recently uploaded a video that shows the HVAC Green House being built. The video is on my youtube channel here:

    http://www.youtube.com/VernGraner

As the book is in B&W, I've also recently uploaded some hi-res color photos taken during the construction process. Here are some samples from the gallery:

I have more pics and intend to do another video that shows the unit fully operating. Let me know if you have any questions.

I'm here as well to represent Chapter 5, I hope you all enjoy and find use in the book. As Vern I believe said, it was nice to kick back and see what the other authors had done.

Oh, yeah, and the unofficial Propeller group is meeting in my childhood area this year! I get to go to it AND visit family - woo hoo!

A book where we have full access to the authors??

Parallax must have no idea how books are published! Perhaps they just don't understand the rules..

Got mine today and have been looking through it for about an hour. This is going to be a fantastic resource. Chapters 1 - 4 are really going to help me out - and I look forward to making my way through it all.

Thanks for the great work guys! Like OBC - I can't believe we have access to the authors for questions!

With an invoice date of 1 Feb. and it arriving today, WOW Parallax and UPS did a quick job of delivery for Ground shipping.

Now to collect a lot of 'quiet time' to digest what's on these pages. Introduction and Chapter 1 is waiting for me.

Thanks to the authors and Parallax for getting this gem together. yeah.gif

I'm keeping an eye on this thread for Chapter 3 and 4 questions.· Answering questions is great because it helps us·revise and·refine explanations for future revisions as well as for other articles and projects.· So when we say "...thanks for asking...", we really mean it!·

I've had the book for the past week now. I've skimmed through all of it, and read about half the book carefully. It is AWESOME. Great variety of programming and hardware concepts are covered. The explanations are very well written and described.

I have only loose DIP props, the PEK, and variety of sensors. Now I want a Prop demo board and super mini TV for convenience. It's nice that the small distinguishing points between the prop demo board and the PEK were presented in the book.

Andy: Just a suggestion for Chp3 debugging: I find that I am a visual learner. In the correct and incorrect code, highlighting the lines that are "corrected" can be helpful. For example, on page 67-68 the loop interval code could be aided by having the correct and incorrect parts identified. I know I'm a nit-picker but I end up marking up my book to highlight the little but significant parts of the code. You did highlight some sections on page 70 with ***BUG, which is a great help.

I really liked the section on Sigma-Delta ADC. Very clear and descriptive of the process that the propeller chip needs to complete the analysis.

Throughout the book, I liked the "Tip" and "Information" sections which refer to more online content. Its the interaction between the readers, authors and other sharing coders which provides awesome learning opportunities.

Something to think about: I have read in various places, both in the book and other Parallax produced materials, that certain code would run "better faster smoother" if it were in assembly language. My assembly knowledge is limited to a few months working on Commodore 64's 20 years ago. I would love to see a clearly written document on Prop Assembly including converting some simple routines from spin to assembly.

I'll be heading over to Amazon to put my 5 stars on.

Got mine yesterday and have started reading. Very well done.
I like the style of practical information.

In scanning I saw reference to Propeller Audio Spectrum Analyzer by
Beau Schwabe on pg 168. I tried looking for this on the forums by poking around and
searching and I cannot find it.
Can anyone direct me to it.
    Thank's

Oh bugger!! I tracked my package to Singapore (sent via the Postal Service) and I see they tried to deliver on Monday to my office but no one was there. Delivery was attempted at 4:59PM! Hmmm - I have been here every day since and haven't seen any retries, I need to figure this one out. I am eager to get the book and to join the crowd of those who sign its praises.

Thank's for the info hover1, that appears to be it.

I must not have been able to find the tree for the forest .

Andy, I went to this link http://forums.parallax.com/showthread.php?p=617192

to get pst debug lite which is used in Chap 3 and the links are to the wrong place.

They go to same place as the next subject Measure RC time.

I have the Parallax CDRom and I will go give that a look to see if it is on there.

But when I opened it up PST Debug Lite.spin was in there, along with the RC Time stuff.
