Hi Parallax.. I have read about the end of life & reasons, also you said you were placing large order last September, now I am at your site/store to order say 10 SX28AC/DP-G but there is zero stock. Have you run out already? I would like the DIP form so I can take it out of board socket and reprogram if necessary.
I noticed you have the surface mount chips but I don't know if I can make the pad for that on a pcb and solder it succesfully. Do you have any advice on usage of surface mount chips like this and other items like led and resistors.. since you have used them on many of your boards.
Thx. John

About 89,000 SX28AC/DP-G arrive in the next week or two. Many of these are sold.
If you want to buy some please place an order (even though the web site says out of stock).
There are still at least 50,000 units that have no claim.

Of course, I finally have some movement of all of the projects I've been working on with this chip! Go figure!

A little more complicated picture with many variables, but here's the bottom line:
49,959 units in stock (web will only show 8K because we've socked away a lifetime supply already)
207,469 more units coming out of test
Some are allocated to back orders
Appears that around 215,000 units are available for future purchase, as they arrive.
But if you want them I suggest you place orders. Although we could be holding 100K units in a year, surprised customers can call anytime and get their lifetime buy in a few minutes.

I've been using just propeller chips for a couple of years, and haven't used SXes at all lately, when all of a sudden last week a propeller project needed a couple of accessory
boards that SX52 protoboard were exactly right for, so I blew the dust off my SxKey and dug the old protoboards out of the parts bin (and had to dig back in my memory for how to
program SX assembly) and got the boards working in the project.
(I was sorry that the SX52s were discontinued; sometimes those extra 4 bits were really handy.)
So now I'm watching the numbers on the remaining SX48 protoboard stock (255 remaining) , wondering if I should buy now while there are still a few left...
Any chips to be received at Parallax are for sale, except those which we sock away for BASIC Stamps over the next 20 years.
The SX Proto Boards represent perhaps 0.01% of total SX chip usage.
