how do you figure out what the short filenames are on an sd card.

    Not sure what you're asking. On Windows, if you start a command prompt and type "dir /x" you'll get a directory listing that includes short names (e.g. "BLAH~1.EEP" for "blah.eeprom").

    I think it has to be longer than 6 letters before the period to make the ~1 appear.

    No, the fact that there are more than three letters *after* the period makes the ~1 appear.

    Ok, you're right , that explains why I can't load eeprom files with short names. Thanks.
