Newbie question: How do I get my Hitec Cont Rotation Servo to move only 10 degr

I have two Hitec Cont Rotation Servos and·a Propeller USB board.· When ever I turn on the board, the servos just go in a circle. I am using VSA to control them; but can use the Propeller tool if somebody can give me a simple procedure to control my servos so they just don't rotate in a circle.

Thanks@!

    Kim,

In a continuous rotation servo, the feedback pot that determines position has been disconnected from the gear train, so there's no way for the servo to "know" its shaft rotation angle. For this reason, you won't be able to control the servo's position without some other form of position feedback — only its speed. Therefore I would suggest you obtain a couple standard servos to use in your project. They will be much more suited to your +/-10 degree positioning needs.

You could also attach encoders to the shaft and use them for position feedback.

    Thanks guys,

I am going to disassemble and then reassemble with standard servos. For my next project I will re-purpose the servos with encoders.

    Thanks again!
