RC Scale Helicopter with BS2 and Ping

Hello everyone

This is a little project I did for a friend. Its for a Scale RC Helicoptor that was on static display at this years 2010 AMA show in Ontario CA. He thought it would be an attention getter if we could leave the lights ON at the three day event. I thought we could do more than that. I have Boe-Bot sitting at home. So the little Boe was sacrificed temporarily of course for the greater good. Long story short this is it. Nav Lights, Windshield Wipers and a Search Light were what we needed to control. Basically we needed to sense the presence of on-lookers and have the Stamp control the Lights and Servos.

Windsheild wipers: continous rotation servo
Search Light: standard servo (sorry you can't see it in the pics but its below the Heli).
Nav lights: turn on and off by a transistor

We had someone turn it on in the morning and off at night and it ran all three days, no problems.

The Program Code, stolen and altered from "Chris Savage's Garage Parking Assistant" thanks Chris.
And thanks to kf4ixm for the feed back in the sensor forum, never got that far, ran out of time.

Well thats it, a very basic project but I thought I would share it... sorry no schematic but the code and a few pics are attached

Oh, the Helicopter won 1st Place in Scale Competition. And it was a crowd pleaser!

Nicely done! Based on the size of the Ping in the photo, that must be a very large model. What is its overall length?

    RonP,

My code is never stolen...it's shared! Everything I post is for everyone to use and hopefully find useful and maybe learn something from. Great project. It does show how one project can inspire another. Now people will realize the Garage Parking Assistant is just a modified motion detector. =)
