Ken,

How long is your offer of a USB Proto Board for an Amazon review good for? I was going to wait a while before purchasing the book but I was going to purchase a Proto Board soon. I'll buy the book instead of the Proto Board. If the offer is good for a week, I'll buy the book today and write a review a couple of days after receiving it (I'd want to read at least most of the book before writing a review).

I guess I was lucky to order from Amazon because I had·the book·last weekend and got to read through it.·Of great interest was Hanno's dance bot and Martin's Xbee Network. The network writeup will fit in perfectly with your new Xbee offerings. Sly devil comes to mind. roll.gif

Amazon positive review left. As if anything Parallax does is not positive.

hey guys,
Great book .. congratulations..

I have an SD card adapter from ucontroller.com. Working through chapter 4 at the moment .. I can not seem to be able to write strings or numerical values to the SD card as mentioned on page 183. I downloaded source from

ftp://ftp.propeller-chip.com/PCMProp/Chapter_04/Source/

but I can't find how to write numbers or sentences to sd card?

My wife got me the book for Valentine's Day. I've been pouring through the first 3 chapters. Even though the first 2 chapters are pretty basic they do have good information. I like how Andy takes you through the debugging and the tools you can use. I can't wait to get to the other chapters with the applications. It'll get my head spinning :) with ideas. On top of that we have personal access to the authors through this forum. It can't get better than that! Thanks for the great book!

In chapter 8 (or is it 9) - the one on a maltivariable portable GPS deivce, there is an older version of FSRW in which there were routines added for easily logging decimals, strings, hex and binary. Go ahead and look at those for examples. This past weekend I downloaded that code, plugged that FSRW object in and got string and decimal logging to an SD to work just fine.

TE44,
As Tim pointed out the features you were looking for are in

obex.parallax.com/objects/402/

I added features SDbin, SDhex, SDdec and SDstr .. Perhaps FSRW with these should be uploaded to the ftp site by the powers that be.. anyhow I have added the link above for you.

Regards,
