AH3-R Hexapod with Ping))) controled full, 360 degrees of motion using BSsx&Pro

Hello,

I recently built a AH-3 from Lynxmotion (with all right legs), but I wasn't familiar with the Atomic Pro and SSC-32 servo controller so I've replaced the electronics with a BS2sx and two of the Propeller servo controllers (inside the body) from Parallax. I'm also planning on adding some more sensors in addition to the two Ping))) ultrasonic sensors (the "eyes").

The robot is running a program that uses the Ping))) sensor to check to see if the path is blocked. If it is then it looks back and forth until it finds an opening. The robot then translates the direction that the "head" is facing and walks in that direction. It is always looking in the direction that it is walking. This program allows the robot to instantly move in any direction without turning it's body and has full 360 degrees of movement.

inside:
outside:
(I just thought that it would be funny to have the robot walking around outside, yes it was very cold and yes, I stole the scarf from a teddy bear. It's a tough world.)

    vanmunch:

Beautiful articulation and sensing, you make it look so easy! Walking in the crunchy snow is a very nice touch. Makes for a great backstory:

"You guys with your wheeled robots have it easy, just rolling around everywhere. My robot had to walk 3 miles to and from school in the snow. Uphill in both directions..."

Hey thanks Erco! It took a lot of hair pulling. I always enjoy reading your posts like "Boiler Plate" and baby behavior.
