Parallax Serial Terminal Stopped Working... for no reason.

Has anyone had this happen to them?

I was just using parallax serial terminal. It was even loaded. And then while using windows 7 and not using the terminal for a few hours I tried to open the window again and it refused to display anything.

I tried restarting windows 7 and it still refuses to show any display. I tried downloading the stand alone·copy avialable online and it does not work either.

Any ideas on how to fix this? Mabye something in the registry changed its state?

I tried the BASIC stamp debug window and it still works. I don't know what's going on.

I had a similar problem with the STAMP awhile ago so i learned my lesson. Are you using a battery to power your system, once the battery drops below a certain point i could see LED's etc on the board but no stamp. When i replaced the battery it all came back.

Hope it was as simple as this..

Does this mean you can see the process in the taskmanager but no visible window?

    best regards

Yes Stefan. Its really wierd. And it will be a problem if I can't fix it.

@Ozzie Neil - Thanks for the help. I'm using the Propeller Chip however.

Maybe Parallax will have a solution.

If anyone has an older version please post it. Thank you.

    Kye,

I have been running some tests on Windows 7 for other apps; I will beat up the Serial Terminal and see what I can come up with. Can you give me any more specifics so I can test it like you were? Also were you given a prompt to send an error report?

    Hello Kye,

maybe you enjoy using Br@y's terminal or PST-2008 in the meantime?

    best regards

This is all I have. I recieve no error messages.

Everything was working fine. I had the program open. And then after a few hours of unuse it refused to display anything. So I closed it and then tried reopening it and I get nothing.

-- PST 2008 does also not work. Same problem. It loads but displays nothing.

Try deleting all the Registry settings for PST. It could be off the screen (although PST should fix itself after restarting it).

    1. Close PST
    2. Open regedit (start menu -> type in regedit)
    3. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ParallaxInc\SimpleTerminal and delete the whole SimpleTerminal branch

Simular but probably nothing to do wit your problem, BST often opens on my XP to be invisiable. Minimise and maximise gets the proper display.

Your computer hasn't grown a ficticious second monitor has it ? The PST could be waiting on that one.

    Stefan,

I have spent the last couple of days beating the Serial Terminal up on Win7·and I can't seem to duplicate the loading problem; I've used it every way I can think of, but it's running solid.·I'm a little puzzled as to what is happening.

Where you able to delete the register? If so, did that work?

    Regedit fixed the problem!

OMG! You saved me from reformatting my PC for that one program. Other terminals just don't don't work with the propeller that well because they toggle the DTR and RTS lines when opening the port.
@StefanL38·- Brays Terminal Toggles the RTS and DTR lines when opening the port. Or atleast it did while I was using it.

    Thanks,
