Hello Guys,
Can anyone recommend a crystal for the prop that is surface mount?· Thru-hole just isn't as much fun especially if I want to swap things out.
Thanks,Greg

I always find that the surface mount Xtals are a pig to get off, without stressing the tracks.

A crystal socket soldered to the board and a thru-hole crystal is the way to go. If you don't have a crystal socket, I've cut apart a machine screw DIP socket and soldered that to the board. Note you want to trim the crystal leads a little long - so the body doesn't contact the socket.

I use this one: MULTICOMP's MCRSD05000F183000RR From Newark
It's good to 85C. I use it for both surface mount and through-hole (just bend the tabs), might not be good in breadboard though.

I agree with most surface mount crystals are not easy to remove without damaging.
