Scribbler Arrived!
Thus far, it's been a really great day! The USPS mail carrier delivered my copy of Servo magazine, and just a few minutes later, the FedEx delivery person handed me my new Scribbler!
I'm going to use this w/my high school students technology club - I was inspired from several who have used the Scribbler in teaching robotics - too numerous to list, but Whit is certainly one of them - thanks Whit.
I hope to have a dozen more of these things soon.
I'm ready with my pre-programmed response to peers (after using r/c airplanes, helicopters, and cars at school): "No, it's not a toy, it's an educational tool"
Happy robotic endeavors,

Thanks for the kind words!
I just got my Servo today - Last week I received two more Scribblers - I keep having new students join the club.
I love your response that the Scribbler is an "Eductational Tool." Of course, we all know - It is really fun to play with too! But don't tell them that!

I didn't spend too much time w/the demo programs - I just dug in and began programming it. I want to replicate the maze activity which I believe Whit posted a video of a small maze you created and solved w/a Scribbler? I was impressed by that.
And, are my students going to "outgrow" the Scribbler? If so, what a wonderful problem!
If so, maybe we will move to this: www.roboteducation.org/
is there a way to install software on a Windows 7 64-bit PC?
Yep, the installer on the CD didn't play well with all 64-bit systems, and it predates Windows 7. You can download a zip file with the unpacked software from the second table row link on this page:

You can run the software directly from the Scribbler.exe file. The Scribbler GUI is a Perl shell that actually gets processed through the BASIC Stamp Editor. It should behave properly by using the version of the Editor bundled with it, but if it doesn't, Tech Support can give you a hand.
