    I have this one on my shelf - Just saw it advertised in Servo for $19.95!

    I always check out the used/new stuff on Amazon and get a lot of books that cost more to ship than the book cost me!

    How about Good to Have.

    I really like the LEGO experiments (for quick prototyping) to solve engineering problems.

    There are other books in my library I would never give up. There are others I use over and over agian. Like say "Robot Builder's Bonanza."

    Ya I have this one as a PDF file in my e-book archive database. I really have not read it all yet but I do have over 2000+ or so electronic books and most of the for dummies books as well. Really I need to organize the books better and start reading and making notes where the important subjects are in them so I can just look at spreadsheet and click on what I need so it opens the book for me at that page. Other than trying to remember where things are and giving up on the search. LOL

    Interesting that you should mention that. I used to look down on Lego robotics in higher education (HS, colleges, universities) until just recently. I was enjoying a dinner onboard a train (community seating) with a mechanical engineer from JPL who was working on a robot, and offhand he mentioned that all the engineers had lego robots on their desks to play around with. I guess that they make experimentation easier for the professionals...

    Thanks for that link erco!

    @GWJax,

    I have trouble remembering where my socks are! I hate knowing that I read something and not knowing how to find it again!

    @SRLM,

    I have a 10 year old son - believe me - we've got LEGOs! I have not played with their Robotics stuff though. I'm a Parallax person through and through - These forums, the folks at Parallax·and you guys are a big part of that.

    Sincere apologies to anyone who may have ordered this book based on my post. I just received this book and quite frankly, I doubt if there is a more useless book out there. It fails on so many levels. Hard to believe that McGraw Hill published it. The book is organized poorly, alternating chapters flitting between basic mechanics and electronics. It fails to prioritize the information. TMI on some things, not enough on others. It wastes precious pages on crystal lattice theory, then glosses over ICs in a half-page, saying "ICs could fill half a book." PID and Fuzzy logic are barely mentioned. No useable depth or practical robotic applications, other than showing some LEGO cad drawings, much better covered elsewhere. There is a quiz after each chapter with questions of great urgency. My favorite is Chapter 6, #1: "According to the author, what makes a robot interesting?". Aarrggghhh.

    A better question might be, "According to this reader, what makes a robot book interesting?" Useful information.

    How big a mistake can it be at $6.52?
