Using laptop, Windows XP,·with com4 via a USB>Serial adapter (Belkin).
Editor reports "No BASIC Stamp Found",·shows comm 4 with Yes in both Loopback and Echo but now Device Type or Version.
Via Device editor unchecked "Use FIFO Buffers"
Problem still persists.
What next?

The Belkin adapter may not be usable for downloading programs. Only a very few adapters that don't use the FTDI chipset seem to work. I've had good luck with the Keyspan High Speed Serial Adapter and pretty much any adapter that uses the FTDI chipset.

99% of all other problems with "Stamp not found" are due to:

    1) No power or inadequate power to the Stamp

    2) USB driver not installed or installed improperly. The default Windows driver doesn't work for downloading.

    3) Bad cable, either the power cable or connector or the USB (or serial) cable or connector.

The problem with many USB to serial adapters is that they don't implement the serial handshake lines properly.· Downloading to Stamps (or SXs or Propellers) requires that the DTR (Data Terminal Ready) control line be implemented and controlled by the PC.· Not all adapters do this.

Thanks Mike. I was begining to wonder if the Belkin was involved. I'll look for an adapter as you recommended.

    I appreciate the feedback.
