I've tried several times of the past few days, and can't even get the page to load.· Is search.parallax.com "dead" or just "sick", or is it just·me that's sick?· - Let me re-phrase that, I know I'm sick, but but meant is it just me that's having problems with the search engine.

It's not you. The mini-Google has a hardware problem that is preventing it from doing it's thing.

I'm guessing that for the length of time this thing has been down (well before my initial post) and other bits and pieces I've picked up along the way, that Jim's reply might be expanded to something like:

The hardware is messed up, and we are evaluating a number of options on how to best move forward. There are factors/features other than the search platform itself that weigh into our decision. We are reluctant to put money into the existing search solution as we search (no pun intended) for better alternatives.

We are continuing to evaluate options, and at this point in time, we have no timeframe on a resolution.

That said, I'd add that some forums, especially the ever ballooning Propeller forum, the value of the forum is significantly reduced without a viable search option. This results in having to post “repeat” questions because you know something is there, but can’t find it.

This opinion, and about $10 will get you a cup of coffee at your local Starbucks. You might even get some change.

The best bet now seems to be going direct to Google, and using their Advanced Search.

You can use Google's Advanced Search to restrict results to a particular domain. So, if you want results in the Propeller Forum, go to the Prop Forum and copy the URL for it - e.g. "http://forums.parallax.com/forums/default.aspx?f=25". Paste that URL in the "Search within a site or domain" field on the Google Advanced Search page. Put your search terms in the fields higher up, and away you go.

Still cant view many pages that way unless viewed 'cached' versions.. The entire site apart from the forum and the object exchange seem to be down.
