I've come across Oznog before, he can be a bit opinionated. That application might have to be coded in assembler on the Propeller, which will cost a lot more than a little PIC which can be coded in C, and debugged with a $35 PICkit 2. Moreover, automotive versions of the PIC are available, and ones that work at 150C, and 5V operation will give a lot more noise immunity. Horses for courses.

You'll find idiots or narrow-minded zealots everywhere, in all shapes and forms in any and all topic you'd want to discuss on the net.
I've seen worse... A lot worse...
Never, ever ask 'Why would anyone want an AK-47 for home defense' on the 'The Whiteboard' forum...
(It's a comic about paintballing. )
Notice my avatar?
Yeah, I'm into furry stories.
I even write some.
(I know at least one on this forum used Parallax products to animate the costume he wore at a furry convention)
And no, not everyone is into gay sex while wearing silly suits, as some magazine articles seems to indicate.
Frankly, I think some of the Anime guys are more disturbing. Imagine a fat, old guy in a Sailor Moon costume? Yes, it has happened. Feel free to google it, but I warn you, it's not a pretty sight.
(Not that there's anything inherently wrong with Anime, either, except possibly Sailor Moon, and of course the Tentacle monsters... A lot of stuff is actually quite good. Urusei Yatsura, Tenchi Muyo - except the Tenchi in Tokyo series, Love Hina, Bubblegum Crisis - chicks with robot suits, gotta love that, All Pupose Cultural Catgirl NukuNuku - it's so cute!, Chobits - now there's some nice HardWare... Or is it SoftWare?)
I bet that if you asked whether it's best to hang the toilet paper with the end facing out or in towards the wall, you'd be able to start a flamewar on some fora.
The net is full of people with opinions, and because of the anonymity offered by most fora, some people don't care about politeness. Instead of holding their hands over their ears and going 'Lalalalala', all they have to do is click 'ignore' on anyone they disagree with.
The worst is when some of them actually get control of a forum. It usually doesn't take long before the forum is almost dead, with just the admin and a few of his cronies left.
(This forum is remarkably free of 'heavyhandedness'. While discussing other micros than what Parallax offers isn't encouraged, the admins doesn't exacly delete the treads, either. )
My advice is to just stay out of any fora that gives you bad vibes.
Even delete your user from it.

Take up any gripe you have with them over there.

I started with PIC chips.... It's a miracle I kept an interest until I found something else.
PIC-->AVR-->ARM-->Propeller (Joy at last-Please don't 'interrupt' me)
