USB thumb drive reader?

I am wondering if anyone has made a device that allows you to read the directory and files of a USB thumb drive?· These things have become so common that I would expect there to be something available but I have not found anything yet.·

You need a chip with USB OTG, such as a suitable PIC or AVR, or a Vinculum chip.

There is always this from Parallax (uses a Vinculum) easy to use with Propeller...

I use the Vinculum chip, you can load in different firmware versions to the chip. The VDAP firmware will allow you to use two USB ports and two drivers, so that you can even copy files between the two. The VMUSIC firmware allows you to playback audio from the USB drivers using a chip made by VLSI called the VS1033, they have other upgraded audio chips too. VDIP is a module that is ready to plug straight into the Prop that had VDAP firmware, VMUSIC2 is a VMUSIC firmware module that plugs right into the Prop. The dataogger on the Parallax site is essentially a VDIP.

That does seem like it is the answer I am looking for.· I don't really need all the fancy music stuff etc.· Just need the ability to:
    · Read a directory
    · Open a text file and read its contents
    · Write a text file (new or overwrite)
    · Be compatible with a PC so files can be read/written there as well

That is about it.· I will have to pick up that datalogger thing and give it a go

    Thanks!!!

The other options is to simply use the SD card and driver. That's what I am doing and then I have an SD USB card reader for the PC side of it.

Chris, most everyone that logs stuff with the propeller(that I've seen at least) just uses a plain old SD card. You can get a simple SD adapter that acts just like a flash drive when you insert an SD card. Basically, you log stuff to the SD card, take it out, pop it into your computer, and read stuff off of it just like a thumb drive. The only catch, is you need an SD card socket, but you can get one for <$10, or make your own(<$1).
