Trying to find a source for these thumbsticks

I am trying to find where I can get thumbsticks (just the plastic press-on part) like shown here;

27800-M.jpg

I don't need the whole thing, just the press-on plastic "thumbstick" part, in quantities of 100.

I have tried several of the SparkFun thumbsticks/mini joysticks that do have the plastic bits but found that they are not precise enough for what I need. I did find some higher quality ones elsewhere that work well but they come without the nice plastic molded thumb thingy.

I'm not even sure what to call the part so the search for them is troublesome.

Any ideas?

p.s. The Parallax 2-Axis Joystick pictured won't work for me because; (A) It doesn't have a button and (B) it is mounted to a breakout board.

    Now I don't know if this is there 'proper' name but many years ago when I needed to find similar, the best(?) search was a combination of rubber/nipple/tit/joystick/cap.

    No, I am not having you on.

    Just be aware that you _will_ get a lot of 'near misses' as well....

    Good luck

    You may need to obtain them directly from China to get a reasonable price on that many. And you may have to buy more than 100 to get any at all:

    www.alibaba.com/trade/search?SearchText=joystick+cap&Type=&CatId=0&IndexArea=product_en&Country=&ssk=y&sq=y

    Just be sure to find a source that accepts PayPal. Otherwise the bank transfer may cost more than the goods.

    If you have one of them on hand, you could have a mold made for around $1000, then the individual parts would be hardly anything to run. I use a guy in Burbank that can make the mold and run the parts in whatever material you want. They would be an exact duplicate of whatever you give them to use as the master. 1-2 weeks lead time.

    This is what I need, many of them have min quantities of only 50 so that is good. It'll be interesting to see how much they want for them.

    www.alibaba.com:80/trade/search?SearchText=thumbstick&Country=&CatId=0&IndexArea=product_en&ssk=y&sq=y

    Those search terms returned some entertaining results - learned something new there - mini vibrating (something) clamps? shocked.gif

    I doubt that I'll ever need enough to justify having a mold made but it's nice to know that it is not terribly expensive.
