Stingray Battery Adapters

Attached is a picture of a couple of adapters I made to connect regular R/C batteries with Tamiya connectors to the Stingray.

THe Mouser part numbers for the pieces needed (minus the wire) are:
538-35728-0201·- SKT 14-20 AWG - $0.07 each
538-35143-0201·- 2 POS PLUG HOUSING·- $0.32 each
538-50217-8100 - SOCKET 18-24AWG BULK - $0.26 each
538-35156-0200 - POSITIVE LKG HSG 2P - $0.14 each

On the 2 to 1 adapter, fitting the 2 wires into the crimp spot on them was tight. I ended up soldering them in place since the crimping wasn't secure enough. That wouldn't be a problem with higher guage wire, but I used what I had.

I was doing almost the exact same thing this week, but with smaller battery connectors, not Tamiyas. I also ended up using a little solder because the crimp did not seem secure enough on the light gauge wire I was using. The jury is out for me, but I think I would prefer to have screw terminals on this board to the plugs. Screw terminals do fail sometimes, but they are lot easier to work with.

For mine, instead of molex connectors I used a male (female? The side that is on the end of the wire) barrel jack connector. It seems to work okay so far. Thanks for the part numbers.
