CONTEST: Guess what it is - Winner Announced

A few people said the last contest was too easy - so I've ramped up the difficulty a bit. But the prize is bigger - a Propeller Platform, Prototyper Module, and a new Accel_Gyro Inertial Measurement Unit.

The item to be identified and method of entry is right here

Update: While no-one identified the exact device, Jon had winning guess; 'Keyboard spoof? -- for planting phantom keystrokes, or translating one keyboard system (i.e., layout) to another.' srlm gets an honorable mention with his guess - 'It is a keyboard stroke recorder (datalogger).' Great effort everyone! I especially liked Bill's guess - 'An Electronic Rube Goldberg machine'.

Last chance - just a day left & about 15 guesses so far. Maybe I've made this one too hard?

Nick I already posted my guess so I don't want to cheat but after looking at it again ?I have to admit my guess is either cordless screwdriver since it has a PIC chip or my original CSU/DSU but thinking back I do not think they ever used PIC chips in a router or switch correct???
I thought even CISCO used a lot of Motorola but anyway I am very curious what it will turn out to be

    Here it is!

It is a 'Keyboard Emulator Plus'. A link to the product brochure is here. A lot of good guesses, especially considering the limited information available - these little deduction puzzles are always fun.

I'll figure out the winner on Monday. If you originally entered an MD5 hash, be sure to provide the plaintext (post in the comments section of the contest page) by EOD today :)

So close... No cigar, so I guess it's time to start chain smoking. If I can dampen my gag reflex with enough twigs maybe I can get to the cigar next time.

Jon, enjoy the cigar (a Don Arturo Gran AniverXario cigar, I hope...) And thanks Nick for the contest!

Seriously Jon - I have no idea how you got that one - it was a picture of a PIC and 2 connectors!

Starlino just put up a really good guide on using the Accelerometer and Gyro for accurate inclination estimations - here

OT, but I was watching the guild on the internets last night & who was in the credits...

I could tell that the connectors were PS2 type and that's the first thing that came to mind.

Yep, I helped out a few days on Season 3 of The Guild. Felicia Day works very hard to produce that show, even using her house as most of the sets (which is crazy as it's a full crew of 25+ people to make that happen). I shot some behind-the-scenes video and stills, and also did special effects (the paint ball episode). This is one of the few times I've worked behind-the-scenes where my electronics skills didn't come into play.
