Using the Ti TXS0104 for bi-directional translation

Hi Gang,
As a recent crossover from Stamps to Propeller, I'm wondering about interfacing the 3.3 V world with the 5V world like Dallas One Wire peripherals.
I've read thru the "getting started"· "stickies", and it seems most common to use series resistors and pullups for 5v interface, but while expedient, that it·isn't the best way.
I started looking at the Texas Instrument TXS0104 as being a better alternative.
I'm still setting up my protoboards, and thought maybe having a couple·in the·basic configuration might be a good idea.
But then again, I'm a noob here, so I'm asking you folks who've been there already, Is the TXS0104·the way to go for logic level translation?
Thanks in advance,
Darlene·
