Hello:

······I noticed on the Web that Jon Williams is going to do articles in Propller Programming.

······This is great news as this is one of the"Sharpest Knives in the drawer". I hope the

····· Nuts & Volts article's will be as good as the Stamp. The other sharp man is Andy Lindsay.

····· Parallax has a lot of good people but these two are tops in my book..

I agree. The Propeller community as a whole has a bunch of top notch, talented people. yeah.gif That's the main thing that attracted me to the Prop about a year and a half ago and my P brain has been stuck in a serious overflow condition ever since. freaked.giflol.gif

Thank you. While I've never thought of myself as one of the sharpest knives in the drawer I can, at times, be a useful tool. Wait, that didn't sound very good, did it?... smilewinkgrin.gif

As far as my column, I'm still the same guy, and bring what I think is my practical, let's-have-fun, regular guy approach to what I do. That's not to say that I expect everyone to be interested in every column, but, if I do my job well, at the very least you'll learn another programming trick or two in the process.

BTW... my column switched to the Propeller, full-time, in May of 2009 (with the introduction of the Propeller Platform, my answer the that dog called the "Arduino"). In July we decided to rename the column: it went from "Stamp Applications" (which was originally created by Scott Edwards) to "The Spin Zone - Adventures in Propeller Programming."

    Happy Holidays!

Follow-up: Everything that I've written for N&V vis-a-vis the Propeller can be found here:

My January column (which is not online yet) has to do with decoding and transmitting SIRCS (Sony IR) signals. If you've ever wanted to mess with your friends by having their TV mysteriously change channels, I show you how in that article!

You know what is real funny....i didn't put the two together. I didn't know Jonny Mac was Jon Williams.

Wow...talking about dull, I'm about as sharp as a spoon.

Yes, the name on my SAG card is Jon McPhalen. In addition to acting, writing, and sometimes shooting, I get to work with cool Hollywood FX folks. At the moment I'm [gently] introducing them to the Propeller (after having spent a lot of time using the SX with them).
