Propeller Scope Issue

I have been playing with the my new Prop Scope and I seem to be having some problems with it.

I am still playing with the Oscilloscopes and looking at some servo signals being generated using a Propeller USB Protoboard and the Servo32v5 object. I'm not trying to debug anything, it just happened to be available on the Robot sitting on my desk at the time. It seemed simple and I know what to expect as I have viewed this signal using the Parallax USB Scope.

What is happening is that everything seems to work fine for about the first 10 seconds or so before the displayed signal freezes. I have noticed that clicking on the left portion of the screen cycles through the triggers and doing do does start the signal displaying again for 10 or so seconds. Before that I was clicking the RUN button to get it going again.

I have tried the latest firmware 1.0.2, changed USB cables, a different computer, different signals and even read the Help PDF file on Hanno's site. I'm out of ideas. Is there a test that I can run to determine if I have a bad unit?

Also, just an annoyance, how come when I have a channel turned off measurements (garbage data I guess) are still being still being displayed. If it's turned off, I think that nothing or zeros should be displayed.

Thanks

James just a thought, do you have your screen saver set?? I noticed that if I am running my prop scope and windows 7 tries to kick in the screen saver it hangs up

    Mike,

I'm hoping for a simple solution but that's not it.

Lol it never is my friend.

James I wish I could be more help what verison of windows are running? I just got mine on Wed so I don't have much time with it I did not upgrade my firmware just assumed it was up to date since I just got it.
Did the problem occur before the upgrade or after??? maybe try giving more details even things you think are ok like drivers ,, but to be honest it does not sound like a driver issue

I would be incredibly surpised if you have a bad unit.

The software seems to be very buggy where start/stop and triggering is concerned. Sometimes it changes trigger settings or won't recognize them or work fine for 20 triggers, then freeze up like it don't wanna do it that way anymore.

The PropScope is pretty sweet, it's helped to figure out some annoying issues, but it too has annoying issues. "It" would be the whole package. The hardware seems like it is solid. Once the software bugs get ironed out it will kick ***. (As much as a 25Msps scope can)

Inside PropScope menu there should be a submit bug report feature to make it easier to submit without the distractions of the web.

Edit: After writing this I tried to stop right after generating a signal, then restart·right after. Attached is the screen print of it crapping out. After pressing ok then run it worked. I stopped it again and it wouldn't start back up without closing the app and reopening.

    BH,

Thanks for your reply. I think that your describing the same issues I'm having. I was thinking software but no one mentioned having such issues so I figured it was my computer, me or the hardware. Has someone reported these issues to Hanno? Is there a better place to report such problems?

    Thanks

    Hi,
I watch these forums and am working on v1.03. If you encounter a crashing bug, please submit the crash report to me- and if you know how you made it crash, let me know in the "comment" section. Software is hard to get perfect the first time in a v1.0 product- but I'm committed to making PropScope solid. Feel free to pm me as well.

    Hanno to the rescue.

I have no doubts about you being able to make this an entirely solid product. I'm already very happy with it. Once the annoying trigger problems are sorted out, it will be beautiful.
