I just checked out the Daily deal and came back to the Parallax home page to see it changed.

Gents,

Thank you all for the notifications;·our web department has been notified. Looks like some hackers were trying to make a name for themselves.

The problem is,

If they were able to hack the Web Site, what else were they able to "get into"?

User Database?

Credit Card info?

If you were hosted at at a major hosting site that rents out servers, they would have taken the site down and made you reformat the hard drive(s).

Not good.

Kenny I wouldn't worry to much about secure data ,, most of this nonsense is done using a windows exploit or even apache to a lesser extent I would be more than shocked if Parallax had thier secure data linked in such a way that it could be accessed from a web exploit ... There is a whole website I wont publish the link where these so called hackers post a picutre of the website they hacked ,,, Like I said while I am suprised Parallax web services were hacked I doubt anything of use was taken

There shouldn't be any concern regarding security from·a company stand point; the web site and forums are separate from the company's over all operation servers. Mike nailed it, they just changed the pictures; didn't even change the link associated to the picture that hackers commonly do. For example, link to their web site for publicity.

I personally think it is funny. Not funny for Parallax per se, but funny because they hacked a small companies website.

It's not like something like hacking the CIA website, or maybe Google. It's pretty easy to pick on a small company.......not very large bragging rights though.

If I had done it, I would be ashamed I couldn't do better.

Parallax shouldn't feel bad. They should just put up a banner saying the hackers didn't aspire to do a "Mt. Everest" of hacks. They only did a "local mound" hack.

Just my view on the subject,

James L

Funny, but probably best policy is not to feed the trolls. :)

Since it was labeled as Iran does it amount to web terrorism?
(Why not everything else is called terrorism now.. :)

Tim,
You might want to edit (or remove) that picture you posted. In the middle towards the bottom are two words that really shouldn't be seen on this forum.
I'm just saying there are some younger people on here, and possibly some schools.

Your probably right "feeding the trolls". I just think if someone hacked them it would be quite funny.

I seriously doubt it was someone actually from Iran. I've been there, and they are more "active" about their methods. Not all of them, just the ones intent on causing havoc.

Yea.....I'm on board with that. "DOWN WITH INTERNET TERRORISM".
