I tossed about on which forum to put this on and decided that Robotics was appropriate as us Robotics types tend to do allot of materials and metal work.
I bought an Optical Center Punch about 6 months ago on a whim, kind of tossed it into an order at the last minute. It allows a very precise center punch into metal to align your pilot holes. This little gizmo has caused the quality of my metal work to go up dramatically and allow very accurate alignment of a series of holes. It has also made me more efficient with less rework.

SO, all you robotics widows and widowers out there looking for an unusual Christmas stocking stuffer - get an optical center punch. They run $35-$100.
