Hey all,
Today David Carrier joined our Technical Support team with one purpose of providing more support for the Propeller chip! David sits with Dave Andreae and Josh Donelson. David knows the Propeller very well, having written programs since the day it was released. He also designed the PropScope hardware with Hanno.
You can even CALL US ON THE PHONE and these three guys can answer your questions (for free!). I encourage you not to get stuck and give them a try. Adding one more person in technical support with specific Propeller experience should really help our customers. They also have Skype and GoToMeeting if you prefer using those methods instead of the phone. Just contact them ahead of time at support@parallax.com to exchange Skype names.
All of them will keep your project confidential and they have respect for our customer's intellectual property.
Welcome David!
Sincerely,
Ken Gracey

+1 "excellent!" for doing GoToMeeting support. I started this program with our customer base last year. It's been a win all around. It' makes real "over the shoulder" support possible and practical. We found the time savings from being able to work more directly on the problem easily makes up for the burden of working the software into the process. Our support for MCAD / PLM can get really intense. This stuff exceed that in many ways. (broader area of expertise required)
These online meeting tools are a godsend.

Forum Junkie: "Hello!"
David: "Hi! How can I help?"
Forum Junkie: "Err... yes! Oh you mean that! Well...."
David: "Relax! I'm here to help!"
Forum Junkie: "Well, I just wanted to say, 'hello'..."

You know it's funny. I've never once even thought about calling a support line for this stuff. It's so rare to actually have a support line, and if there is one, usually it's full of limits and exclusions, or it's "Your VISA please...", etc... (we don't ask for a VISA, thank god)
Welcome David! (sorry in advance if my lame humor above results in a busy day)

Now if only Parallax Support will answer my question submitted in detail before Thanksgiving.... Why does Prop Tool V1.2.6 pull RTS low in addition to DTR when programming, even if DTR only is selected in Preferences. I NEED RTS to be left ALONE by Prop Tool for my application. This is of-course serial port only. I've verified this problem on three machines running WinXP SP3+, an IBM T30 laptop, a P4-Prescott on MSI mobo, and an Atom N330 Intel reference board, all with REAL native serial ports. I've verified that RTS should be left physically high voltage if not used (no HW flow control) with both WinXP Hyperterminal and the venerable Terraterm Web terminal emulators. Selecting DTR, DTR&RTS or RTS only in Prop Tool does nothing. RTS is pulled low along with DTR in all cases.
David, or anyone else at Parallax, please answer this question. I'm getting really frustrated. PM me in the forum with reply, I don't want to hijack this thread. I'll post any resolution to the Forum separately.
Again... Welcome David, I assume you will join the Forum. Please do so and introduce yourself when you do.
I am David (too) in Jakarta

I hope they do not mind some of us are using alternative tools like BST and so on. Skype is a great tool and well, it costs less than international calls (just the broadband so far) . The other tool is unknown to me.

The Parallax forums are such as perfect resource for the Propeller that David might
find himself sitting around like the Maytag man. :) :) Wait, this is Parallax... No chance!
Not only do Parallaxians offer great tech support, but they are also willing to help
when you need an idea to solve a problem using their products! Witnessed this
myself when I paid a visit back in January.
