Is there a schematic out there somewhere that shows how to configure my BOE so I can drive a 28 watt 1157 bulb?

Read Nuts and Volts Column #6. It shows how to connect a power transistor to a Stamp to control a lightbulb or relay or small motor. For a lightbulb, you don't need the diode shown in the article. That's only needed for a motor or relay or solenoid.

Go to the main Parallax webpage and click on the Resources tab. The list you get has a link for the Nuts and Volts Columns index.
