Windows 7+ FTDI+ sleep = nada

I am using and xtend radio that uses a FTDI chip. I have a new netbook with windows 7 on it. After awaking from a sleep, the chip reenumerates, or at least the hardware manager says this device is working properly, but the com port cannot be opened.

Ideas?

Before narrowing it down to Windows 7 I would try this on a desktop PC running Windows 7 as well. Also, I don't know if anyone has had the pleasure...my secondary hard drive kept shutting off on me repeatedly after I installed Windows 7 and I found that the Power Management section is much more complex than the old one and was set to turn my hard drive off every 20 minutes on a desktop. These settings can be found in the screen saver config panel. You may be surprised at how many power saving options there are, including USB settings. I hope this helps. Take care.

Well, yes, I suppose there could be a few different things to check, but realistically this shouldn't be happening with a product of FTDI's caliber. At this point, only unplugging and replugging the device does the trick.

What I am suggesting is that it could be the hardware (laptops are known for weirdness in power saving mode) or even Windows 7. I never decide on the cause of a problem until I have eliminated the other possibilities. As Sherlock Holmes was fond of saying, "when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth".
