BS2 based cam controller

I made a controller for a cheap cam to use for Time-laps ..

I made one years ago but I lost the code for it so I made a new one .

Here is youtube Video on how its made www.youtube.com/watch?v=d4T7LgojVnA

I used a BS2 Homework Board and a set of reed relays to activate the power and shutter buttons.
I could have ran them right off the stamp but I did not want to mess with source sink issues and I did not want to risk blowing the stamp with a back-feed as it is my schools ..
And being in a area where there are no real electronics stores I had to use what was at hand ...

Here is the first test run in the robotics lab at school.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=TGacmluNYD0

The Code is very fat and eats space . I need to improve it with some " for 1= yada " statements
but I had to make it in a day

I Might All a EyeFi card to the SD slot on the cam so I can post the photos right to a FTP server ..
But this was never in the plans until now .

    Welcome to the forums, Peter!

well, judging from your excellent Tesla coil work, you'll feel right at home here with a bunch of other Mad Scientists :))

Did the FCC or guys in black vehicles ever pull up while you were firing up "Pig" ?

FLL? A few of us from the lug got together and formed the IRG because we couldn't find anyone else here in IA doing anything with robotics. We had two meetings before school started and then everyone seems to have lost interest in it.

    Hey, nice job!

I've been jonesing this thing for the past hour or so.

How hard was it to hack the power and picture buttons on the Vivitar thingy?

Oh it was easy,, there was a separate PCB that had 4 traces on it , 2 per button , but none were common to Gnd or V+ or each other so I had to ISO each input with a reed relay ..

it was simple and cheap . and the cam quality is Quite good for a sub $100 digi cam .

one mistake, I should have removed the piezo element so its silent ...
so it still makes noises when it turns on ..
a random beeping from a ugly box does not help its bomb looking persona much ..

OK good news I got a new case for it that is water proof .and I am bringing the project to UPEW .

I am also going to dump the relays and use 2 opto isolators or a direct Pull up or Pull down Right off the BS2

It HAS to be sorce or sink some how ..

At UPEW I hope to get a new BS2 I can dedicate to this thing and really call it done as right now I have on loan one of my college's Home work boards in it.
