Found alot of resources online for hacking these things, but have not found
out anything on this part in the lower right. It looks like a peizo buzzer but
seems to have a lot of circuitry and 7 pins for a buzzer.

Does anybody know?

I'd say a little speaker with audio amp.

Four to five transistor packs shown, don't know what's on the back...I tend to agree with Mr. Sisk.

No, the speaker is much larger and sits behind the hole array in the fornt cover. The device in question sits on the other side.

My guess is that it's part of a DC-DC converter, and the circular item in question is a toroidal transformer.

Hmmm. DC-DC converter. It is right next to the 3V power plug. Well, that turned out to be completely uninteresting.

Has anybody worked with the LCDs off these at all?

Nice size screen but the connector ribbon looks to have about 60 traces on it. Outside my very limited abilities.

Something like that. smile.gif or even some kind of midi to piezo converter would of been nice.
